What has led us to build Hegazti
Connection with the natural environment allows children to develop organically in harmony with the context. Functional learning, autonomy, and self-sufficiency are built. It activates the immune system. It is an inspiring and inclusive environment. It's the largest and most creative classroom, where curiosity and the desire to know are awakened. Nature balances the nervous system and conveys a calm rhythm. Being in coexistence from childhood establishes emotional bonds with it and with respect and care for it.
Learning is integrated when we experience it. It is a holistic and organic way in which individuals are involved in their own process at all levels. This generates a curiosity to investigate and discover.
An intrinsic activity of the human being, as in the animal kingdom, through which they learn group behaviors, skills, values, and knowledge. It develops self-determination, creativity, imagination, and decision-making ability. They create their own processes with rules, principles, outcomes, materials...
We nurture the climate and the environment to make the space a safe and calm place where they can feel secure. The main foundation of the school for exploration to happen.
We accompany children's emotional experience through active, non-directive presence, reflecting back to them what we understand about their emotional experience, leaving the experience of the emotion entirely in their hands, showing our company and understanding without trying to appropriate the emotion or manage it for them.
We practice daily communication by describing events without value judgments or adjectives. We try to identify in conflicts what each person's needs are and specify what the request is.
We mix age groups as follows: 0 to 3, 3 to 6, 6 to 9, 9 to 12 years old. The purpose of these groupings is to respect the timing in processes and contribute to the experiences offered by different ages.
Physical challenges allow the child to discover their own body and become aware of their possibilities. One way we support this is by allowing them to move freely without interference, such as placing them in positions they cannot reach by themselves or advancing processes they can achieve autonomously. We encourage them to develop and learn freely and autonomously, guided by their interests and motivations.
We encourage awareness of everyone's needs, the need to take care of ourselves and others, to contribute to making these values part of the school's everyday life.
We are located in the Valdearas area, 1 kilometer from Viana and 9 km from Logroño.
Forest School Schedule:
Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 14:00 PM and working to extend it to 17:00 (with meal).
